What Makes You Not A BuddhistDzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche's much-anticipated first dharma book written for a broad audience is now available. Rinpoche has offered all of his profits from the book to Khyentse Foundation. The book cuts right to the fundamentals of Buddhist philosophy with a thorough explanation of the Four Seals. Rinpoche explains impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and liberation with refreshing clarity, using a combination of classic and modern examples to illustrate each point. The Chinese version was published in May by Navigator Culture (Taiwan) and is already a bestseller there. The English version, from Shambhala Publications, will be in bookstores in January 2007 and is available here now. Rinpoche’s first book was a collection of his talks transcribed into Chinese, but this is the first that he set out to write with the intention of publishing. It is being offered here for a discounted rate of 15.95 from the retail price of 19.95.

Travellers and Magicians (DVD)25% off the listed retail price of $29.99! Khyentse Norbu’s follow-up to his audience favorite THE CUP is the first feature film ever shot in the tiny kingdom of Bhutan. One of Himalayan Buddhism’s most revered lamas, Khyentse (aka Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche) weaves parallel fable-like tales about two men who seek to escape their mundane lives in TRAVELLERS & MAGICIANS. Young government official Dondup dreams of escaping to America while stuck in a ravishingly beautiful but isolated village. When the first chance arrives, he immediately heads for town and an awaiting visa, but things don't go quite as planned. Missing the bus, he hitchhikes with an elderly apple seller, a sage young monk, and an old man travelling with his beautiful daughter Sonam. Along the way, the perceptive yet mischievous monk tells Dondup a story of another young man who sought a land far away: a tale of lust, jealousy and murder that holds up a mirror to the restless Dondup and his blossoming attraction to the innocent Sonam. TRAVELLERS & MAGICIANS is a magical mixture of rustic road movie and mystical fable...a potpourri of desire and its consequences, set in a breathtaking landscape. Film Info 2004 108 mins Color Bhutan In Dzongkha with English subtitles 35mm Aspect ratio: 1.85:1 Sound: Dolby SR/SRD
